About Carolyn Jarvis
Sebastopol, California oil painter Carolyn Jarvis is best known for her local Sonoma County, CA seascapes. She is captivated by the process and challenge of creating colorful, spontaneous paintings that attempt to capture the light.
She has been using palette knifes instead of brushes in some of her recent oil paintings because she likes the freshness, texture and color vibrancy.
For three years, Carolyn studied painting with Van Waldron, an artist who had been a student of the famous Russian master oil painter, Sergei Bongart. From 2015 to the present time, her paintings have been shown at Artisans’ Co-op Gallery, Bodega and Hand Goods, Occidental, CA. She has exhibited in Balletto, St. Francis and Chateau Diana wineries in Sonoma County. In addition, she has shown her artwork in the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Graton Gallery and Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA.
